You Ordered a Tesla in the UK Without a Referral Code — Here's What's Actually Left to Do

Most guides about Tesla UK referral timing stop at the same warning: click the link before you pay, or you lose it. Fair enough — but if you're reading this because you already paid without one, that warning is now useless to you. Here's what's genuinely still open, and what isn't, without the padding.
The rule itself, stated once, then we move on
Once the order fee is paid, a referral code can't be added to that order — not by re-clicking a link, not by contacting support, not after delivery. We've covered why in detail in our delivery-timeline guide and FAQ; we won't re-argue it here. The useful question is what that actually leaves you with.
Option 1 — use a verified code on a genuinely different order
A referral code isn't tied to a person, a device, or an account — it's a link that attaches the moment someone clicks it, before they configure and pay. That means a code can't retroactively attach to your paid order, but nothing stops you (or someone in your household) using a verified code on a separate order: a second vehicle, a partner's order, or a friend's first Tesla. If there's any order in your near future that hasn't reached the deposit stage yet, this is the only place the 650 miles can still land.
Option 2 — cancel and re-order, weighed honestly
Cancelling your current order and placing a new one with a code attached from the start is mechanically possible, but it's rarely a clean win. Tesla UK's own order agreement sets out the cancellation and refund terms for the order fee — we don't have a current, UK-specific figure for any fee or window we can stand behind, so we won't quote one; check yours directly in your Tesla Account before deciding anything. What we can say generally: a new order starts its own build and allocation clock from scratch, and allocation runs on production and location, not on how long you've already been waiting — so cancelling can cost you queue position, not just paperwork.

For most buyers already a few weeks into build and allocation, the honest maths favours keeping the order and using Option 1 on a future purchase instead.
What we won't tell you, because nobody can back it up
You may come across claims — usually on forums or third-party "referral help" sites — that a code can be retroactively applied by contacting support, or backdated for a fee, or added via some workaround. We have no published Tesla UK source confirming any such path, so we're not going to repeat it as fact. If a real one exists, it isn't documented anywhere we can cite, and we'd rather tell you that plainly than invent reassurance.
