Privacy

Short version: our calculators run entirely in your browser, we don't sell your data, we don't ask you to create an account, and analytics only load if we've configured them.

What we don't collect

There are no user accounts, no sign-up forms and no newsletter on this site. We don't ask for your name, email or payment details for anything a calculator does. The only place you might hand over an email address at all is if you choose to email us directly (see Contact, below).

Calculators — your figures stay on your device

Every calculation happens locally in your browser using plain JavaScript. The mileage, tariff, salary or temperature figures you type are never sent to our servers, never logged, and disappear when you close the tab. You can verify this yourself: turn off your network connection after the page loads and the calculators keep working.

What your browser stores locally

The only thing this site writes to your device on purpose is a single localStorage key that remembers your light/dark theme choice, so the site doesn't flash the wrong theme on your next visit. It stays on your device — it is never transmitted to us or to anyone else, and clearing your browser storage removes it with no loss of functionality.

Cookies and Google Analytics

We don't set any first-party tracking cookies ourselves. If this deployment has Google Analytics 4 (GA4) configured, Google's own gtag.js script loads and sets Google's standard analytics cookies (for example _ga) on Google's domains to distinguish visits. That processing is governed by Google's own privacy policy, and Google's analytics infrastructure can process data outside the UK/EEA under Google's standard contractual safeguards. With GA4 unconfigured, no analytics script loads at all — no gtag, no dataLayer, no cookies from us. You can also block Google Analytics with a browser setting or an ad-blocking extension without losing any calculator functionality; per master build rule §3, analytics is never a dependency of the copy/clipboard action.

The one custom event we track

When GA4 is configured, we fire exactly one custom event, copy_referral_code, when you tap the Copy button on a referral code card. It carries three parameters: which pooled code was actually copied, which part of the page the button was on, and the page path — nothing that identifies you personally. A second event, referral_click, fires when you click through to Tesla's site. Neither event is used to build an advertising profile of you; we use them only in aggregate, to see which tools and pages are actually useful.

Referral links

Clicking a referral link takes you to Tesla's own site at tesla.com/en_gb (or a ts.la short link that resolves there), governed entirely by Tesla's own privacy policy from that point on. We don't receive your order details, payment information, or anything about whether you actually completed an order — we only know that a link was clicked, from GA4's aggregate click count, if analytics is configured.

Legal basis and your rights (UK GDPR)

Because we don't collect personal data directly, the only personal data in play is what Google Analytics processes on our behalf when configured (device/browser identifiers via cookies), and any email you choose to send us. Where used, that analytics processing relies on legitimate interest in understanding site usage; you can withdraw that at any time by blocking analytics as described above. Under UK GDPR you have the right to access, correct, delete, or object to processing of any personal data held about you. Since we hold no account data, the practical way to exercise this is to ask Google directly about your own analytics data (via your Google account's ad/activity settings) or to email us with any request. You also have the right to complain to the UK's data protection regulator, the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), if you're unhappy with how any request is handled.

Children

This site is aimed at UK adults researching a car purchase and isn't directed at children. We don't knowingly collect personal data from children.

Changes to this policy

If how this site handles data changes — a new analytics event, a new third-party script — we'll update this page and the "reviewed" date on the About page rather than silently changing behaviour. This page was last reviewed 2026-07-13.
