Which UK Incentives Actually Stack With a Tesla Referral?

A referral code is only one line in a UK Tesla buyer's incentive picture. The confusing part isn't the referral itself — it's working out which other UK schemes actually combine with it, and which don't apply to Tesla at all. Here's the honest stack, broken down by the three buyer situations we see most.
The incentives, and whether they stack
| Incentive | Who's eligible | Value | Stacks with the referral? |
|---|---|---|---|
| Tesla referral | Any new Model 3/Y order | 650 free Supercharging miles (~£72–£84 depending on model and Supercharger tariff) | — (this is the referral) |
| EV chargepoint grant | Renters and flat owners (plus some other specific groups) — not most driveway-owning homeowners | Up to £350 off a home charger install | Yes — entirely independent of the referral, claimed through your installer |
| Salary sacrifice BiK rate | Employees whose employer offers a scheme | 4% Benefit-in-Kind for 2026/27 (rising to 5% in 2027/28) | Yes — stacks freely; the BiK rate and the referral don't interact |
| Electric Car Grant | New EVs priced under roughly £37,000 | Up to £3,750 | No — every current Tesla model (from £39,990) prices above the threshold |

Profile 1 — renting or in a flat, ordering with salary sacrifice
This buyer gets the fullest stack available in 2026: the referral's 650 miles, the 4% BiK rate through their employer scheme, and — because they rent or live in a flat — they're actually eligible for the EV chargepoint grant, worth up to £350 off their install. Quantifiable stack: roughly £422 on a Model Y RWD, before counting the ongoing BiK saving versus an equivalent petrol company car.
Profile 2 — homeowner with a driveway, paying cash
This is the most common assumption gap. A homeowner with an existing driveway, buying outright, still gets the referral's 650 miles — but under the current scheme, they're not eligible for the EV chargepoint grant, which now specifically targets renters and flat owners rather than general homeowners. Many buyers assume the grant is universal because it used to be broader; budgeting for a full-price install (typically £800–£1500, see our Home Charger Cost Calculator) avoids an unpleasant surprise.
Profile 3 — fully employer-provided company car
Here the referral still applies the same way at order time regardless of who technically holds the account, and the employee's main ongoing cost is BiK tax on the car's value at the published rate. Business-side tax treatment (capital allowances, VAT recovery and so on) sits outside what this article can responsibly cover without a named accountant's sign-off — ask your employer's fleet or finance team for the specifics that apply to your scheme.
